Hi,
Firstly please excuse my ignorance, if something I say below seems wrong then it probably is due to my lack of knowledge.
I am having a garage built with a new base which will be used as a games room. (bar/pool table etc...)
On the floor base, from Damp proof level, the groundworks people are putting 100mm Celotex (at my request) and then 50mm Screed for the flooring.
I have been told that normally after the celotex it should be 150mm concrete, then 75mm Screed. When I questioned the Groundworks guy he said that 50mm Screed was normal and that he can try compacting more Screed but he will have to check the levels (at my cost!) as he has only left 50mm space (completely ignoring my comments about the 150mm concrete).
My question is really whether 50mm Screed above the Celotex (without the concrete) is enough for a floor base.
Whenever I ask building control, they say that as it is only a garage and the floor is not supporting the building, so they will not check it.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
