New gas hob but no ignition

I have installed a new Ikea (Whirlpool) gas hob. The electric is connected via FCU and there is power getting to the hob cable.
When you turn and press the gas control there is no clicking and so no spark.
Have i missed something or is this faulty do you think?

How did you test for power? If you are relying on a neon screwdriver or similar then you are wasting your time. You need a multimeter to test for 230-240V at the appliance.
