New gas valve

I'm fitting a new gas valve to my boiler. Is it OK to use a bit of rubber hose & two jubilee clips to modify the inlet pipe? Also can someone tell how one would shut the gas off?? Would it be OK to fit the new valve with no turning the gas off, as I understand the pressure is quite low.

I can do a bit of DIY & have fitted some shelves etc.

It's no joke mate, we've not had hot water for two weeks & the gas man has not turned up, again.

Any advice please fellas?

It's a Saunier Duval boiler with lots of hoses in it already. So it should be OK, what do think?

What makes you think it is a gas valve problem?

Can you tell me what one it is and what lights show, and I will try to help.
