Thinking about having a extension built.

Do I need to have the walls plastered, Was just thinking of PVA on them then tiles over that where the wall shows.
Would this be okay in a kitchen.

No, they don't need the walls plastered.
No, that wouldn't be OK in a kitchen.
No, don't get too excited, or
No, don't even THINK about getting an extension built!

Personally, I think tiles all over will make it look like a public toilet.

That would be a good trick.

What are the walls made of? brick/block and or rendered or plaster boarded (dot and dab) ? What about the ceiling?
have you considered all the areas not covered by your units (window reveals, door reveals, over units, odd areas where units don't meet door frames etc.
My kitchen is fully tiled but is very low(units up against ceiling). If it had a standard height I would have changed the tiles from a very pale blue mottling on white for the bottom to white over the picture rail level.
