Well folks I've gone and done it!
Whilst designing the replacement of one side of my tiny kitchen, after much thought I took the plunge and took two radical steps: no oven, and no inset hob.
I cook everying in the air fryer and rarely use the oven, which takes up a lot of space just to cook a roast joint two or three times a year or to heat up a frozen pizza now and again. So I've sold it and am having a new 3-drawer unit there instead.
I've always had a standard 4-ring hob but for as far back as I can recall, we have never used more than two rings at a time. So the hob was taking up all that counter space unecessarily. At first I decided to replace it with a 2-ring inset hob, to leave more worktop space for food preparation, then when shopping for the 2-ring I spotted a one-ring, portable plug-in hob and realised what a perfect solution this is for someone with very limited counter space. So I bought two, at £50 each. One we shall keep on the counter, easily moveable when counter space is needed, and one in its box in a cupboard for the rare occasions that we actually need two.
Actually I have taken a third quite unusual step in that I have bought a worktop that is 7cm deeper than normal ones, to make even more space on the counter top. It also means that when the baskets are pulled out of the air fryer there is enough worktop to lay them down without toppling off the edge.
So far the whole side of the kitchen has been ripped and everything will be fitted over the next week or so....
