Hi everyone - I need a little help
Just bought a new house and want to replace a light fitting with a simple pendant light. When the old fitting was removed 5 cables were coming through the ceiling!! All connected with plastic blocks. The connections were - 5 earth wires together/ 4 red wires together/ 1 black(swl) with 1 red/ 4 black together. The switch operates two outlets hence a forth wire from the ceiling. The fifth wire appears to go to a security light with pir and switch. After a lot of fiddling I made the connections to the new ceiling rose - 5 earth/ 4 reds/ 4 blacks/ 1black (swl)-1red - and it all works nicely..... except the security light!! Any suggestions???

The security light is switched? Then check you have power at the switch.

Was the security light working before you changed the fitting?, In my experience the bulbs in these things blow quite regularly especially if it is a cheapy.

Thanks for the response. Yes, the light was working before I changed the fitting. I'll check the bulb and for power at switch.
