Right, here goes it. Purchased our rural property 18 years ago. It was derelict at the time. It came with a garden of 3/4 acre and 2.5 acres of Agricultural land. In the garden land was a 20 x 30 ft barn made of curved roofing and brick walls . We removed it but left the foundations of said building. The foundations are still there. What are the prospects of building something new on the same site?

What condition were the brick walls in?
If crack free, especially at corners....that would indicate no movement.
What are the foundations like? Any cracks?
What is the sub soil like...shrinkable clay soil is bad news.
Are there trees or hedges nearby - concerns would be oak, leylandii, hawthorn

What are the foundations- brick or concrete? How deep are they? All the above questions about the ground.
You'll need planning permission unless the height and distance from boundary fall within pd, you'll also need building regs so a bco will be the arbiter of whether the founds are ok.
