hi,ive just bought a new rad for bedroom.my problem is that both pipes go into the same end on old rad(theres apiece of pipe approx 8 inches long going along inside the old rad it seems to screw into one of the pipes.the old rad is hollow at the bottom to allow this.)however the new rad is just a basic one with a knuckle at either end.will it be compatable with the 8mm system?tia.

You have a twin entry valve on the old rad. The 8" long pipe is the distributor tube needed for this type of valve. You cannot use t/e valves on new "knuckle-type" rads so you will need to re-pipe with a new valve at either end of the new rad.
