About to start supplementary bonding three new bathrooms, boiler installation etc - and was going to use 6mm cable.

However, on trying to buy a 50m roll, I find that places such as Screwfix, B&Q etc only sell 50m rolls of 10mm2 - with 6mm2 either not available, or only available in 10m bits.

This made me wonder if the government had yet again interfered with common sense, and created yet another regulation that made the minimum supplementary bonding cable size 10mm. Anyone know if there is a new rule I am not aware of?

Thanks

To behonest, I am replicating the existing building sizes - just seems mroe sensible to be the same throughout, to avoid any questions as to why it isnt later!

seems odd that the supply chain seems to want to supply loads of 10mm, but makes it hard to find 4 or 6!

Thanks

Try an electrical wholesalers. Just be carefull to check the price they want from you before you get your wallet out!

Some outlets are rarther unscrupioulus!

The current standard for supp bonding is 2.5mm2 with protection or 4mm2 without, most if not all find it easier to use 4mm2. Using 6mm2 is pretty common these days I find.
