Just heard, you get a note through your letterbox saying missed delivery (where have I heard that before?) there's a number to call to rebook the delivery, this call will set you back £300 ?? Seems a bit steep to me, anyone care to expand please...

Call me on 09014769328 and I'll give you more details.

This call will cost considerably more if made from a mobile.

There was a similar scam last Christmas with bogus parcel delivery companies.

This one you phoned and it would just ring out, or so the victim thought, so they'd keep ringing to organise a new delivery date.

What was actually happening was the call was connecting but a recording of a ringing tone would be activated, unsuspecting victims would not know the call was connected and they were being charged at premium rates of £15+ per minute.

Find the person who told you this legend and tell them they are spreading a myth. Like you and Terrypin.

No doubt it happened to a FOAF.

Myth, not the scam but the costs?
Yes, it would appear the costs are grossly exaggerated, thanks for highlighting that.
Still, the scam could net the scammers a few quid at £1.50 p/m.

I'm not spreading it! I put it on here to find out from our learned friends if there was any truth to it....

Me too

And for incoming calls, where I use CLI and let them go to answering if not recognised.
