New Smart Switch - Capacitor Required but where?

Hi

Am about to replace a 3gang switch with a new smart switch that comes with a capacitor. Instructions advise the this capacitor be installed in the ceiling rose for Gang1 which just happens to be my landing light that hangs over the stairs so isnt easily accessible.

Question is, can the module be installed in gang 2 (hall light) which is easier to get to?

The load capacitor as name suggests puts a small load on the circuit enough to stop it glowing or flashing when switched on, some bulbs have them built into the bulb, these two both G9 bulbs the smaller one caused loads of problems the larger one just worked.

So set one is try it and see if it needs the load capacitor it may not.

Depends on the particular switch. If it specifies one specific gang, it's not likely to work on another one.
The chances of it working properly are small even if on the correct gang,

Far better to fit a smart switch module in the ceiling at the light where neutral is available.
