Hi,

I'm just doing my Kitchen up, so it's stripped out, and the electrician has done his first fix.

The stop cock is shared and outside on the path. I want to put one in the Kitchen. The existing pipework has a variety of styles and sizes, I think 3/4" (O.D. 3/4") and 1" (O.D. 1")Galavanised with 15mm in places.

First, is it 3/4" and 1"?

I want to re-new all the pipes in the Kitchen. Is it ok to unscrew the first bit of pipework where I can grip the pipe, and fit a stop cock. Reduce it to 15mm and run it to the Kitchen taps plus up stairs to the Bathroom?

Should I use Copper or plastic?

Cheers, Camerart

3/4" and 1" OD galv steel will probably be 1/2" and 3/4" respecrively.

Most of the 'experts' on here will tell you copper is best.
