New style MOT's

I’m away for a month during August, the MOT expires on the August 3rd & it doesn't look like I'm going to have time to get it done before I go. The car is taxed, insured & kept on private property so no problems there but does anyone know if the new electronic MOT system caries any sort of fixed penalty if I let it expire & sort it when I get back; I don’t want to come home to a fixed penalty notice on the doormat like the ones issued automatically if you fail to renew your tax disc in time.

You can get it done before you go & they will date for the day it expires
