Ok so i am planning to rebuild an old wooden shed out of brick and block. The current wooden structure is sitting on a concrete base which was cast 50ishyears ago, what are the things i need to take in to account and how can i tell if the base is strong enough for the wall and roof. as i have never done sum thing like this i need to know where to look for advice and tips so helpful web pages and other stuff would be nice.

and yes i will be talking to the local council about this.

I think you can safely assume that the slab will not support the walls sufficiently. You'll need to, at least, provide new foundations for the walls.

I'd rip up the slab and start from fresh.

You might not need to discuss it with the council. Check out this site for brief guidance:

or this site for the definitive advice:

You might not need Building Reg's approval either if it's under 30 M² floor area.
