Hi,
I've just fitted a new cistern on a close coupled toilet as the old one was cracked across the front of the tank.
All has gone well until I turned the water supply on.
There is a leak from the nut on the cold water supply as it attaches to the bottom of the plastic thread on the fill valve.
When the tank fills to the top, the flow of the leak increases to a fine jet.

Any advice welcomed by a novice plumber.
Thanks.

Best use a fibre washer on the connection.

Be very careful not to cross thread the nut onto the plastic thread.

put a bit of ptfe tape around the tread (about 7 turns) dont go too far up the tread as will look bad..if you can wait till tomorrow buy some lsx (sillicon) from b&q

Well, I like fibre washers ...but I also like ptfe.. which is best :?: There`s only one way to find out ..... FIGHT

whats that going to gain apart from jam all the thread up and make the nut tight?

use a fibre washer.

Agree with seco. New fibre washer will do it - while you're dismantling the joint, put this washer in your mouth to moisten it a bit.

Thanks guys.
Fibre washer and a bit of sealing tape did the trick.
