New Turf laid, does it look damaged?

Hello Folks,

Had new turf laid few weeks ago and cut the grass 3 times since, but I am worried about the look of the new lawn.

At first I used to water it every day but recently upon reading it encourages Meadow grass, which was occurring a lot. I now water every two days.

You shouldn't be cutting it for the first 6 weeks, and when you do you should only cut it on the mowers highest setting.

Leave it alone for now and cut it late September but not short. It'll survive;grass is resilient. Water it during very dry spells in the evening only.

Loads of water every night for the next two weeks. And then after this a lawn treatment and it will be fine.

Hi all,

I used to water every evening, but then meadow grass was growing a lot. Then I read on RHS website, it says water every 5-10 during summer as too much water encourages meadows, but I've doing it every two days. The turf is about 3 months old now. I think I should doing it every late evenings.

It could do with some fertiliser, a new lawn undergoes quite a shock when being cut left dry for days rolled up and then relaid. A balanced slow release fertiliser suitable for the time of your is your best bet. Unless there are dead brown patches it is not damaged, it just needs some tlc.
