An elderly friend has asked me to help her to set up her new TV - it's a 38 inch Cello. She has got to the stage where a QR code appears on the screen - she has managed to follow the link on her smartphone (not bad for a 79 year old!) but this is apparently about a Google account, which she doesn't have; she has connected her wifi to the TV. There are also references to a Samsung account which have appeared on the screen apparently. I've had a look online and there's lots about creating a Google account, then deleting it when the TV is set up. Surely it must be simpler than that! Or will it work with a new Samsung account if I create one for her? She only uses Freeview and iPlayer by the way.

I have a Samsung and I dont think you necessarily need a Samsung account unless you want to download updates or add Netflix, you tube etc. Mine is a couple of tears old and has never needed an update.

Even if you do its dead easy, just an email address and fill in the details once the form pops up. No need to sign in via google.

Shouldn’t need any account to use tv.Probably clicked on something she shouldn’t have .
