New window handle has a longer spindle

I am replacing a window handle and the new handle from Screwfix has a much longer spindle. I did try to replace this with the existing spindle but the spindle appears to be an integral part of this handle.

Should I use my grinder for this or is there a more suitable method?

Just chop it down any way that works.

They are made a standard length to cover a number of circumstances. Simply cut it down to whatever length you need it to be.
Make sure you measure and cut accurately!

they are made with different spindle lengths -which manufacturers buy in large qtys. For retrofit they are mostly 40mm spindles.

Hacksaw and pliers is the quickest way for one handle
