I would like to build a new porch approx 3m wide x 1m deep. Can anyone help me with a few questions?
1. Should I used tanalised timber or green oak? (100mmx100mm)
2. If green oak, does it shrink much and where is a good place to buy it from.
3. Most importantly...I want to mount the uprights off the ground. Probably on a column of 3 layers of bricks to stop the uprights from rotting. How do I fasten the uprights to the bricks to ensure that I dont have a wobby porch? I did think of putting them 400mm into the ground, but I am worried about long term rot and would rather mount them off the ground.

A hug thanks in advance :D
