Happy Xmas to you builders.

Having guests over around Xmas has made me realise that our current dining set up is not enough and that our conservatory (if warmer) would be a much better option to dine in.

This is my conservatory.... .

It is 3m by 6 m approx and I would like to make this a habitual room.
Can I change the roof and insulate or change glass walls to brick. Obviously it is like an igloo at the moment.:(

What are my options please?

throw in a couple of infared heaters about 2 hours before you need to use it.. and an oil filled rad to heat the air when it's in use.. :)

didn't I suggest turning it into an extension when we were talking about the kitchen?

what kind of budget are we talking?
A 2 storey extension possible?

more room for the kid upstairs and no need to walk through the bathroom to get to his room...

knock through the lounge and the front room?

partition off behind the stairs and open it up into the front / dining room making it wider and incorporating the stairs?

Hi ColJack and Merry Xmas

what kind of budget are we talking?

Not much and certainly not a 2 storey extension!

Some good ideas but feel the cheapest option would be to put on a proper tiled roof with insulation on existing.

I wonder if the cost of all this extra work is less than the cost of using a good heater for a few months of the year?

Might be worth studding and boarding out the ceiling and sides and insulating which would make the room a lot warmer , which is what I am trying to achieve.

The existing ceiling is a pitched roof which I could board out but would ventilation be an issue here and if needed how could I do it?
Thanks
