Hi everyone, I have just bought "The house of Horrors" everything has gone wrong. Having the damp proof course done soon but this does not include the floor so I need advice on how best to approach this.

The kitchen is small but the existing concrete is a total mess, layed directly onto earth and damp seeping through. I have got me a hammer drill and its' coming up quite easily but I dont know what the next steps are. I need to dig some of the earth out, then what? I want to stop any more damp coming through so I can finally get some nice wooden flooring down.

If this sounds all girly, it's because I am! Trying to save costs by doing as much of the manual labour as I can.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks Maria

If you want to do it properly.

Minimum 100mm hardcore..type 1 mot.

25mm sand blinding.

1200 guage dpm.

100mm insulation.

100mm concrete.

75mm screed.

So 400mm or 16 inches in old money.

Keep digging
