Newsnight used to watch it .........

I think Fiona Bruce is quite simply terrible at the job and constantly interrupts everybody.

I'm surprised (and intrigued) you think that, you being a bit of a (no offence intended) lefty. Her personal opinions come across far too much. I always had a modicum of respect for Dimbleby, obviously he was left leaning but didn't allow it to interfere with the job in hand, he was balanced, he had control, he was dignified, he refused to show emotion, if things on a rare occasion got out of control he could laugh about it, he was relaxed and in control.

I always thought he had an easy job, it looked easy, till you see someone else do it.

I think some are confusing far right with Tory, and similarly, far left with Labour.
Hopefully neither party are extreme, although there are more and less extremists within the parties. Hopefully, BBC do not give much air time to the extreme far right or the far left.
But usually, both Tory supporters, and Labour supporters accuse the other of being at the extreme of their persuasion, and usually associate the political persuasion as an insult.
I suspect that similarly, Labour supporters would argue that Fiona gives too much leeway to Tory representatives.

I personally think that Nadhim Zahawi speaks a lot of flannel, repeating what we already know, almost like he is just using up airtime to prevent others speaking. If Fiona thinks the same, she is surely correct to interrupt him and bring him back to the topic. Additionally he interrupts the other panelists , especially those of the opposite persuasion, far too much, and should be restrained from doing so. With Nadhim Zahawi, it's very much a case of, "you must listen to my opinion, I'm not interested in yours".

I, too, don't make a habit of watching it since David left, and think Fiona is pants at the job. But they are big boots to fill.
Andrew Neil would have been a better chair.
I do, as of late, make a habit of watching Newsnight, especially Emily Maitlis.

There certainly seems to be a female "type" that the beeb recruits, while the men are mostly stale and dull. I can't think of a single female BBC presenter I like. The BBC London Crew are ok. I think its the disapproving body language that annoys me about Bruce, Munchetty, Kuenssberg et aliae.

over the years the BBC has been accused of both left and right wing bias.

however I find it pathetic that right wing supporters are throwing their dummies out of the pram claiming unfair bias: lets be clear: this government spout the most appalling lies, misinformation, spin, propaganda and nobody in the media holds them properly to account.

If this country is ever to get better political leadership, we need to hold to account and scrutinise everything they say -from both sides.

Kate Silverton :love: I could watch her all day and not hear a word she says ;)

I didn't expect FB to get it, can't think of anyone with the personality to take it on apart from Paxo but he's just about retired

I used to watch it a lot as I played badminton on a Thursday and after a quick pint used to get in as it started, past my bedtime now

That's not the point either.

We are talking about the BBC being what is nowadays called left wing. I.e. equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity based on merit.

Nice legs.

Yes, but it would have been a waste of his particular talent. I can understand Boris not wanting to go up against him. In fact, I can understand anyone not wanting to go up against him.
