nicad battery

Hi i have a cordless drill i bought about ten years ago nicad batteries, only used it once it came with two batteries .Found it in my garage after not using it for 10 years i was wondering if the batteries are going to be no good now.If i buy a new drill and dont use it that much is there anyway of keeping the batteries good thanyou.

The batteries will be absolutely shot.....
The only thing that you can do with ni-cads is to allow them to slowly but completely discharge and then immediately slowly charge them up again.
Even if you do this, a couple of years or so is all you'll get.
