My father used to work away, but got paid a fixed amount for digs so he took turns with 4 others to drive the 300miles each day , meant early start and late finish but slept in his own bed and made a nice profit out of the boss.
Must have lied about the hours worked as well.
Nice to see theft in the workplace!
Another "theft" in the work place happened with some of the lads at the place I work too when working in north Wales.
As I said earlier we get bed and breakfast plus £60 a week for meals. Incidently we've been told that whilist this £60 is tax free anything over that is taxed. Now if we get an evening meal provided we lose £10 per day.
However, the very nice lady at the digs in Wales provided an evening meal but only invoiced for b&b , didn't really make any difference to her as she was still getting paid in full so all the lads up there kept all their allowance.
