Nissan Micra Gear change Problems

Hi,

Can anybody give me advice on my P reg Nissan Micra ? Each gear change seems stif, But when you select 5th its almost impossible to find another gear after.

Any advice will be welcome. Regards Colin

How does the gear change feel with the engine off - i.e without any clutch interference? If its just as uncertain, and particularly if the gear lever itself tends to wave about, you really need to replace the two rod linkage between the bottom of the gear lever and the gearbox.....any play in the bushes at either end greatly amplifies gear selection problems.
The gear lever and rods are usually replaced as one piece, and I've found equal problems with either end of the linkage.
Before you get stuck in though, reveal the mechanism at the bottom of the gearstick and see if there's anything loose or no grease visible, etc.
I think I'd go for breakers items, considering the prices asked my Mr. Nissan!
