Anyone know where the wretched thing is?
The car is a 53 plate 2.5 petrol sport model.
Cheers!

It's in the shop, tell them what you want, ask them where it is, if they can't help' walk away. your dealer will help you, and should'nt cost.

John,

I have found a service manual on the Interweb for the X-Trail. This quote from the manual says where the crankshaft sensor is:

'The crankshaft position sensor (POS) is located on the cylinder
block rear housing facing the gear teeth (cogs) of the signal plate at
the end of the crankshaft. It detects the fluctuation of the engine revolution.'

I've also found this diagram. Hope it helps.

Cheers

Whey hey! Thank you so much!
With that help I've found the wretched thing (lying prostrate across the engine) and I can just see it. :D
It looks like the throttle body at least will have to come off to get in there  and maybe the manifold too.
My problem! Only hope it cures the fault.......
Many thanks again
John :D
