got home yesterday to a very cold house. The central heating has packed up on my Vokera Excell 80SP, the hot water is working fine & the water pressure is at the recommended 1.5 bar, any ideas, Thanks

Why; unless your going to refill with hot water.

Problem could be the a 3 port valve if you got one, eletrical fault, or the boilers busted, but it aint gona be the water

Its a combi boiler so no 3 port motorized valve and the pressure is there so there is no water problem as such. You have hot water so is unlikely to be the gas valve.

Here is a hint, do you have a manual? If not get onto the vokera website and ask for one, either download or mail.

the prob sounds electrical, so more digging is needed.

A, it could have and B, how does it differentiate between how water and heating

A, 3 port valve is used to divert water between radiators and/or heating a cylinder, having one in a combi would imply that water going through the rads can come out of the hot tap, unlikely. AND when fitted to a system, unless the 3 port valve opens to the correct circuit, the pump wont run (if fitted correctly), as you would have water being pumped with no where to go.

And B, It differentiates between hot water and heating by means of a pressure sensor, often a diverter with a diaphrgm, when hot water is drawn off, the water from the heating system is diverted to a secondary heat exchanger heating the flowing hot water, when demand stops it will revert to the central heating circuit. When there is sufficient draw at the flue, there is sufficient water pressure in the circuit, the timer is set to require heat, an external room stat (if fitted) calls for heat and the internal stats say it needs heat then the central heating will kick back in (after some delay on certain models) and heat the rads.

Like I said, more digging is needed and the manual will help pinpoint it.

Alternatively, go with Wilhelm lol.

so whats fitted in a baxi barcelona then :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

or am i changing the wrong bits

ok so there is no standard, but, it still the implication is that if there is one it should be ok as the pump is working?????????

As to changing the wrong bits, if you have then you must be the first plumber ever to have done it.
