No Hot Water at taps

Hi, looking for some clues as to what may be wrong here. I've got a hot water tank heated by immersion only and fed directly by mains cold water. There is no hot water coming out of the taps and the tank appears to have emptied (only gauged by tapping it). The cold supply is fine (and if anything the pressure seems to have increased).

This has just occurred today with no other works going on. It would seem as though the hot tank is not refilling with cold water although I can't see any way that this could be possible. Any ideas ? TIA

What sort of tank is it ????

It's a bog standard 30 odd year old copper cylinder.

So its not really mains fed its indirect fed by a tank in loft ???

No it is mains fed, there is no cold tank.

Ok cold inlet to tank probably ckoked with scale, try isolating feed and draining tank via drain cock, no water or slow trickle probably means scale problem.
