no hot water from alpha 240 p boiler

we have had this boiler for at least 10 years now and it has been having problems with going cold whilst the shower was running and then warming up again etc. but the radiators seemed to be fine all the time

now there is no hot water at all and it doesn't seem to even have the heating now

I've had a look at the inside and couldn't see any thing wrong with it

has anyone got any suggestions as to what it could be

it also has the flew/fan light come on when the hot tap is on but has been like that since i can remember would having a problem with that cause the no hot water problem or is it something seperate

sorry I couldn't be more descriptive im new to this sort of thing

The HW problem is going to be either the plate HE blocked on the system side or simply the primary (ch) ntc needing replacement.

I would go with the latter first as it is the easiest and cheapest to check/fix.

The fan light will always come on for a couple of seconds then go out on this boiler, whenever it fires up. This is normal.

sorry again for my ignorance but could you specify what the abbreviations mean

also the fan light stays on constantly when the hot water tap is on so im not sure if its even heating the water

HE = heat exchanger

ch = central heating

The fan light should not remain on all the time, but it should be doing it for both HW and CH

It sounds as if you need to find a good engineer to come out and thoroughly service it, especially to clean the flue venturi's.
