Have just got back home and been greeted by the news that the boiler aint doing its job. The offending item is a Vaillant, but not sure of the exact model.

When opening the hot water tap, you can hear the pump start up, but therre is no gas flow and, so, no hot water.

Me thinks that the gas regulator may have gone (if there is one!)

Any one any ideas/suggestions?

Does the boiler attempt to ignite?

Have you had a power cut?

Is the programmer set to switch the boiler off at any point?

Has it done so?

Is there an FCU providing an electrical supply to the boiler?

If so, have you checked the fuse?

Is the boiler receiving power / demand from the programmer?

Is the boiler thermostat turned off?

If you have central heating, is it working?

Has any work been done on the system recently?

How are you measuring gas flow?

Do you have any other information about the boiler?

Is it a combi?

Is the programmer set to switch the boiler off at any point? Yes, but switched to perm on

Has it done so? Timer functions correctly

If so, have you checked the fuse? Boiler powered correctly

How are you measuring gas flow? Am not. Am suspecting the problem to be gas as main burner does not light during Hot water or Central heating operation

Do you have any other information about the boiler? Wiring diagram inside front panel reads VCW GB 221, 240, 280H. Suspect it to be the 280 as all other stickers/labels on boiler have an 80 in the text.

Is it a combi? Yes its a combi

Hope this helps

Markie, yeas we have paid the gas company. Robbing price hiking swines they are.

I'm curious, Shelster1973 - is every business that attempts to make a profit a "robbing price hiking swine"?

No softus, only the ones that jump their prices by 22%. All other profit making companies are ok. Guess i should switch if i aint happy

Still not doing what it should be. Have been looking on the web for a service manual, but cant find any.

Is it a solenoid that opens the gas flow to the burner?

If you're talking about the gas valve, then yes.

<post edited because I've just noticed that your answers were embedded in a quote in one of your posts>

Has your dvd got the Vokera boilers on it?

How do we send you a padded without an address?
