Wait! Just before you all clock-off for the weekend!
So, I figure I can save a bit of time, money and mess by boarding over a dodgy internal brick wall with No More Ply 6mm tile backing boards, which can (apparently) be painted, to give a 'large format tile' effect. The method of adhesion is usually dot and dab, but I don't really want to buy endless tubes of the hellishly expensive branded grab adhesive, so I just wondered if anyone has used regular paddle mix PB adhesive with these boards? I can't see why it wouldn't work. Famous last words!?
Thank you!

Pb adhesive is a bit fussy on what it sticks to. Won't stick to painted surfaces very well as example.
Will stick to your bricks but I don't know about board.
Maybe try and see if it works.

The walls are rendered and the plaster coat has been removed. I've successfully stuck PB to this finish for a few years, but PB is porous. As NMP tile backer is water-impervious, it might affect the drying time and grab strength.
I'll keep you posted!

As there will be no tiles attached to the NMP, I'm going to try a single panel with PB adhesive. If it doesn't go off and hold firm I'll switch to tile adhesive. I'll post the results. Thanks all!

Okay, so it turns out that PB adhesive works fine with 6mm No More Ply on rendered brick walls. I supported the boards with a single screw for 24 hours. Note that you don't get the same 'grab' that you get when sticking plasterboard because NMP resists water absorption.
Thanks for your contributions!
