We have currently lost all power to sockets on part of the ground and first floor but on checking the boxes, no breakers have been tripped.

We did think that as we currently have a bit of a problem with mice and our next door neighbours are doing a basement conversion that a cable may have been damaged but, surely, that would have tripped the circuit breaker.

We also thought that one of the breakers may have failed and needs replacing but have no idea as how to do this.

If anybody has any ideas as to the possible cause of the problem and solution their thoughts would be very much appreciated. [/b]

Which sockets exactly aren't working?

If only a section of the circuit aren't working, it's a possibility there's a fused spur unit somewhere that's got a blown fuse/switched off.

If none of the sockets on that particular circuit aren't working, could be various things, eg duff circuit breaker.

More info required.

All the sockets in two rooms on the ground floor are dead and the same goes for the two rooms immediately above them. The room above the kitchen at the back of the house is ok.

The double socket in the hallway situated between the two problem rooms on the ground floor is working fine, as is the kitchen, also on the ground floor. The lighting is ok throughout.
