Well after all the warnings about not drinking near computers, my wife finally managed to spill tea over her laptop , which has now gone dead. Taken out the battery, dried it out and its still dead. Are they generally repairable? (i know how longs a piece of string) but if anyone has experiance id be grateful

It depends how far the liquid got. More often than not, the main board, inverter and hard drives get hit, but without seeing it...

Remove the battery anyway and don't put it back until it's inspected.

thanks igorian as usual. Happily the guy had a look at it toay. the keyboard is knackered but now hes dried the rest out its all functioning ok. Mrs thermo prefers the plug in keyboard anyway!
