I've just finished a complete re-fit on my bathroom with a new suite, floor , tiles etc.

Since i've started using the new bathroom, whenever i run the sink, there is a sort of gurgling noise which comes from the overflow or bath! I have noticed that the trap on the sink leaks a little, would this cause the gurgling sound?

also when i run the bath, a horrible smell comes from somewhere which smells slightly of urine!

Anybody got any ideas what may be causing this?

cheers

Phil

Have you tee'd the basin waste into the bath waste pipe?

Is the pipe run from the bath/basin excessively long?

Is the waste pipework too small?

Have you used a shallow (18mm depth trap) instead of a 75mm trap?

Is the pipe gradient correct?

Is any existing pipework clear of partial blockage - especially connections onto old cast iron stacks? (can result in water backing up)

Any of these things may cause gurgling and water to be drawn out of the bath trap and hence a drain smell.

Check the bath trap water depth - it may be reduced after using the basin.
