Guys,

Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to resolve this issue?

We are getting noise leaking through one of our uPVC windows and I'm not sure how to sort it.

It forst seemed that the window opener wasn't catching shut properly, but this has been rectified and the noise coming through the window far exceeds that of the one in the room next door.

The sealed units appear to be fine with no signs of failing/misting, so the only theory I can come up with is that the gasket/seal has gone.

Is it possible this could be the cause and if so can it be replaced easily enough?

Thanks guys

Check the seal between the brickwork and the frame and underneath the cill. Fitters don't always make good in these areas and if it lets in a draft it will let in noise as well. If the sealing is done with silicone check that it hasn't come unstuck (which it does very easily on UPVC)

You can check the gaskets on the openers by closing them on a strip of thin hard paper (such as greaseproof) to make sure there are no gaps.

Are the frames intentionally fitted with vents? Obvious, but easily overlooked.

Finally: is the noisy window under an un-insulated bay roof?

Other than that, I'm stumped.
