My old wooden garage doors are in dire need of replacing and i'd like to replace them with either a steel or GRP up and over.
The problem is the opening seems to be a non-standard height. The exisiting wooden frame is in good condition. The height of the opening (if I left the frame) is 6'10, removing the frame it is 7' 1".
A standard door comes in either 6' 6" or 7' height. A door pre-assembled in a frame is 6' 8" or 7' 2" (give or take the odd 1/4 of an inch). The recommended size of the frame should be 70mm (which the current one is).
Is the only way round this to have a very thick (or very thin) frame? Could this cause problems?
Does anybody have any bright ideas or know of somewhere I can get a non standard size door made up (but i'm guessing this will cost a bomb).
