Had one of these fitted 2 1/2 years ago. Havent had it serviced and not sure plumber who fitted it had all necessary qualifications, certainly nothing on outside tank filled in etc. So 25 yr Guarantee may be absent :(

Its started to leak from / around hot water outlet, this is a 3/4 elbow to 22 compression.

I half drained tank and cleaned threads and put on plenty PTFE. Probably not as tight as could be due to fact have to position elbow pointing up.

Still leaks 1 drop every 20 secs. Ive read that these cylinders can leak. can you fix them?, or do you think its more likely to be the fitting, any tips, Ive read something about cylinder unions which allow tightening and keep your elbow bend in place.

Cheers for any help

If it is leaking on the male thread that screws into the top
of the cylinder you simply need to put more PTFE tape on it.
12 turns usually does it.

It could be that your expansion vessel has lost it's air and therefore
the pressure in the tank is greater than it was hence the pipework
has started to leak.

Check the expansion vessel with a tyre gauge with the water off
and the hot tap open. Should be about 2.5bar
or whatever the manufacturers instructions for the tank are.

If it is one of these tank with an air bubble you'll need to re-establish the air
bubble.

It's worth phoning the manufacturer anyway.

Had one recently (Range Tribune) that was leaking from a failed weld.
Couple of years old and customer had never had it serviced - Range replaced it free of charge anyway.

What make is it?
Ptfe won't help withg a welded joint :)

They should replace it - but that may well not cover the labour :( though you should have a good go.
If they try to say that it's not covered die to lack of servicing etc, ask then to tell in writing you how that makes a weld leak.
