We've been trying to hunt down the cause for 2 of our 5 rads not heating up properly. We're now on to checking the TRVs but it looks as if they may not be functioning properly. I have two questions: -

1) when we pull out the pin, should water from the rad be leaking out? If not, what could be causing this?

2) the pin seems to be getting stuck off but there looks like there's enough give on the spring, any ideas on what could be causing it to stick?

Thanks

1 the valve will leak like a sieve if you pull the pin right out

2 sludge and muck will cause them to stick and if you cannae free it you will need to replace them

Thanks, corgiman. Much appreciated. While we're on the subject ... ;)

If the flow pipe into the rad is roasting but the the rad's nae is it likely to be the valve or is there another possible explanation. There's no sludge cos I've emptied the rad and refilled it. Other rads are fine but this one's only hot in the flow pipe.

Cheers.
