Hi,

We are currently in the midst of a renovation of our home and we are at the point of deciding on paint.

We have put down wood flooring (b&q rustic bamboo) and are replacing all the skirting boards and the doors in the room. With the plan for the room to be painted a light colour with a feature wall of red (fireplace wall) i'm not sure what we should do with the skirting and doors. should they be stained or painted?

Any ideas??

Thanks

Suebea

Definitely paint (a light colour) or they will clash with the floor.

An eggshell finish can be more subtle than gloss, though.

Defintely paint, preferably in white and definitely not gloss, which is unfashionable and shows all the blemishes anyway.

White skirting boards and architraves. Either gloss or satin.

Don't forget to use knotting solution on knots in the wood, then use a primer before undercoat.
