I normally do all my own DIY jobs around the house but on this project i called in the professionals, ie a plasterer plumber and decorator, they all done a good job, the decorator finished today but as i was still at work he told my wife that he would call around at the weekend for his money, he also told her to look over the work and any problems to let him know, so i give the work a good look over and the only problem i can find is the door reveal would need sanded down to smooth out a few high spots which i think are fillers and repainted, so how do i put it to the decorator without sounding rude as i am looking for him to decorate the outside of my house in the summer?

can you sand down a few high spots and repaint the door reveal please

....and point out that you are happy with the rest and there is more work in the offing. He won't mind at all (he'll just punch you).

Update, decorator came back for his money and asked if i was happy with the painting i pointed out the problem and he sorted it out there and then and apologised for the error. and no attitude

Anyone can make mistakes and your only as good as your last job. If the mistake is rectified pronto then there are no problems. It keeps you on your toes when poeple point things out to you.
