I am about to refit a radiator after decorating. The system is about five years old and much against my better judgement I undid the valves using a Mole wrench fortunately without chewing up the nuts! I will be decorating three other rooms in time and I would prefer to have an exact fitting open ended spanner for the job - the size appears to be 30mm - given the age of the system is it likely to be metric and does 30 mm sound right for a typical domestic heating system.

OP Most nuts vary, and non are a perfect fit for metric. Best use adjustable shifter as pp said. Also need grips to hold valve steady.

Ideal is to use footprint nines and bight your thumb at the need for neetness, do a good solid no leak plumbing job of it.
