oak flooring - how to buff/polish

Just oiled new oak floor with Blanchon hard wax oil; hired Numatic floor polisher to polish/buff the floor, as recommended in Blanchon instructions, but find that the machine skids all over the place and the wheels are marking the floor. Any better ideas gratefully received.
 
You applied the HWO and are now using a buffing machine to finish it off - if I understand correctly? Is recommended indeed so it spreads out the HWO better and more evenly. (You alos use a non-fluffy cloth and 'elbow-grease' fro this)
How thick did you apply the HWO and how heavy is the buffing machine?
