Ethyl Glycol is an alcohol.

I knew an ex-RAF engineer who used meths, his car smelt of it.

I imagine it does a bit, hence the sweet smell, but I imagine it's quite a heavy compound (note I have no idea of the chemical make-up of it).

Been looking round and found this:

Which seems to back it up. Looks like the "antifreeze" part of all of them is still ethylene glycol, but the additive package can be either OAT or IAT.

That's interesting. I bought some OAT antifreeze in Trago Mills last week for about £12.00 for four or five litres, only about a pound dearer that the blue stuff.

I have just had a look and it says 'dilute as to manufacturers specification' or something like that, and 'do not mix with any other liquids' I assume that excludes water.

Confusingly the container is blue but the antifreeze is red, contains 4.54 litres (1 gallon).
