I have scoured some manufacturer's brochures and cannot find what I need.

I need a CU, with 6 rcd ways & 3 incomer ways, hopefully a 45A breaker & a max width of 310mm & height of 200mm. Depth not too critical.

Without busting a gut, does anyone have any ideas?

height seems to be the main problem, if height wasn't a problem you could easilly fit a split in the space.

i think i've found a soloution that would work but be rather messy.

put three of those next to each other and you will have 12 positions total which is enough to build out what you need. You'll have to use wires to link the modules and find a way to join the neutrals but it might be doable.

Just had a look, and it seems around 230mm is somewhat of a standard for the height, I suppose you could try looking for boards they don't make RCBOs for, but I'm not sure even they will be smaller

Can't you alter the space/or shift the CU location a little?

No!

It's in a cupboard built around a square-section tubular steel frame welded together & bolted to the wall in many places. It's also above the back door....there is a CU above the one that is to be replaced and it is jammed against the top of the steel frame. The one to be replaced is hard up against the bottom of the steel frame.

At the l/h/s is the cutout, and the r/h/s the steel frame again.....

So those dims are well-fixed, without serious alteration.

What about replacing both CUs? (or is one a separate off-peak feed?)

(If he has finished melting T&E, I think rf has an arc welder... )

Can you give us a pic with dimensions? It might spark some ideas.
As you have two CUs, is one off-peak, or for a separate dwelling or outbuilding?

Sorry, John. This one got forgotten, as the customer is deciding whether or not to go ahead.

The second CU is off peak, yes.I can't get back there to take any piccys.
