Off-peak tariff, does it really save money?

This was the problem with British Gas, I went for their EV tariff, and seem to remember £75 to come out, by the time I gave up trying to get paid for export, I was getting into winter, so not exporting that much, so seemed to be prudent to wait until contract finished.

Had a letter, "We're sorry you're leaving" asking me to change my mind, I did ring the number, they wanted me to return to them, before they would talk about payment for export, the letter said to discuss deals including a like for like tariff, but they were not willing to discuss, it was come back before we will consider any export payment, so they can take a running jump. Once bitten twice shy.

The problem is, at midnight to 5 am, one has to decide what solar energy will be available latter that day. That is clearly unknown, so one ends up importing energy to charge batteries just in case, then exporting it all again since there is solar. For less money.

Since writing this, the solar software has been upgraded. This has been added

it was well out yesterday, but we will see how it goes. The 15th I used 6.3 kWh from the grid, but average is 1.8 kWh at 25.37p per kWh so 46p per day, before I was using 6 kWh or more, every night at 8.95p per kWh so 53.7p per day. OK, 7p is nothing really, but I had been spending time and energy to ensure washing done when sun or off-peak, which it seemed was in the main pointless.

seems not that good? Wonder how it will do today and tomorrow? Did not notice "Prediction Time: 2025-04-18 before seems a little odd, anyone else getting the forecast?
