As above. We have offpeak central heating. We used to get hot water warmed up over night in the tank for us to use. This stopped working.

So we started using the 1 hour timer, hot water boost switch to heat water. This no longer works and the light on the timer unit, which tells me the water is getting heated, flickers on and off.

Any suggestions as to where the problem might lie?

TIA.

You can normally replace the immersion heater elements with out going to the expense of a new cylinder.

You say the light is flickering. This could indicate a problem with the timer or a faulty thermostat in the immersion heater.

As both immersion elements have gone, the first thing to check is the timer.

Its a simple task for anyone who can use a test meter to see if its the element, thermostat or control switch/timer.

But 230v can electrocute so only a competent person should be doing that.

A neon screwdriver is NOT suitable for this.
