Oil boiler switching itself on and off at random intervals

This started happening a few days ago, it's random - boiler switches on for a while and then switches off, even though the timer hasn't kicked in. Timer lights are NOT on when this happens.

Timer issue perhaps? Or something else?

The boiler is a Danesmoor 15/19

I should add that the timer/control panel is a Drayton LP522

I would be looking for a sticking motorised valve.

+1 for sticky motorised valve.
If the boiler is in an out house / unheated room then it could be a frost stat issue
