I have an ancient rayburn that I use to cook and that also heats the hot water. I recently had the rayburn serviced and since then it works on temp 1 - however the hot water has started to boil in the boiler. The plumber said that I need to run off hot water and that I can't have a radiator fitted as the boiler does not have a coil (?) and it would not be worth doing until the boiler needs changing. What can I do other than turn off the rayburn?????? Help gratefully received.

The cylinder doesn`t have a coil  - you can have a rad , but it must be Cast Iron with 3/4 inch tappings - and no pump on the circuit OR a new Indirect cylinder with associated f+e tank etc. then you could put a normal rad on a small circuit with a pump and pipe stats ;)

Get your service man back again to reset the combustion to its proper level. It is obviously overfiring if it was working correctly before.
