I have bought a house with oil fired heating and am considering changing over to gas. the pros are:
it doesn't run out,
the oil tank is fairly unsightly and smells in the garden
the oil tank is showing its age and is unbunded
the boiler is apparenty original to the house - about 30 years old and showing its age.
We are looking to re-do the garden and kitchen and therefore it would be the best time to change rather than modelling things around the existing boiler and tank.
The cons would obviously be the cost and inconvenience, does anyone do this type of work and if so is there a ball park figure that you would quote to somebody if they asked you to do it???
I am interested in people's opinions as to whether to change to gas or to stick with oil and upgrade when the time comes?? are there any running cost comparisons, even approximate
