Hi all,

just been mooching around in the loft and I've seen that there's no earth running between the shower isolator switch and my bathroom light switch.

Am I ok to just add the earthing myself ?

Hi,

I thought there had to be equipotenial bonding? in place, so that any voltages were equalised and I've heard people say that sparks mostly bond the shower to the light switch. So when I saw the wiring in the loft I expected to see an earth run alongside the 10mm wire.

Cheers,

Pete

Supplementary bonding is required in rooms containing a bath/shower. approximately how old are the electrics in your property and what makes you think the rest of the earthing and bonding is fully compliant with BS7671?

The only way to find out is to have the property fully tested and inspected.
